What Data We Collect
1. Market Survey Data (When You Submit)
When you share your market view, we collect:
- Role: Your primary professional role (frontend, backend, etc.)
- Country: Your country of work
- Utilization: Percentage of time you're actively working
- Offers: Number of opportunities received in the last 30 days
- Market Outlook: Your view on the next 3, 6, and 12 months
This data is aggregated and anonymized. Individual responses are never published or shared.
2. Authentication Data (For Spam Prevention)
When you sign in with Google or GitHub:
- Email address: Used only to identify returning users and prevent duplicate submissions
- OAuth provider: Whether you signed in via Google or GitHub
- Account creation date: Timestamp of when you first signed in
We NEVER access your Google or GitHub account data beyond your email. We NEVER post anything on your behalf.
3. Technical Metadata (For Fraud Detection)
To prevent spam and fraud, we automatically collect:
- IP address: Logged to detect suspicious patterns and prevent abuse
- User agent: Browser and device information to identify bots
- Referrer: How you arrived at TechBaro (if available)
- Submission timestamp: When you submitted your data
This metadata is used ONLY for spam/fraud detection and is never published or shared.
What We DON'T Collect

Weekly Submission Limits
Your email helps us enforce a one-submission-per-week policy, ensuring data quality and preventing spam.
Data Retention
- Market submissions: Stored indefinitely for historical trend analysis
- Authentication data: Stored as long as your account exists
- Technical metadata: Retained for 90 days for fraud detection
Your Rights
You have the right to:

- Delete your account: Remove your authentication data at any time
- Opt-out: Stop submitting data anytime (no account deletion required)
Note: Since submissions are anonymized and aggregated immediately, we cannot remove individual submissions from historical aggregates. However, we can delete your account and prevent future submissions.
Security
We take security seriously:
- All connections are encrypted with HTTPS/TLS
- OAuth authentication via Google and GitHub (we never see your password)
- Database is not publicly accessible
- Rate limiting prevents abuse
- Regular security updates and monitoring
Third-Party Services

- GitHub OAuth: For authentication (subject to GitHub's privacy policy)
We do NOT use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other tracking/advertising services.
