Help build a transparent view of the freelance market, one contributor report at a time.
TechBaro publishes only community-reported figures with clear dates, sample sizes, and methodology.
Anonymous contribution is available now. Market results appear only after the publication threshold is met.
Every published figure is tied to a recent reporting window and sample size.
TechBaro does not publish an index from a handful of responses. We need 30 more recent reports before a 30-day market view is shown.
Read the methodology and publication rules.
We wonโt draw a trend line or a geographic map until enough time-stamped reports exist to support it. When published, every view will show its date range, sample size, and the limits of the data.

Everything you need to know about TechBaro
TechBaro is a community-driven barometer that tracks changes in the IT freelance market. We collect recurring check-ins from freelance developers, engineers, and tech professionals worldwide to provide honest insights about workload, demand, and market outlookโwithout corporate fluff or job board scraping.
Yes, 100% free. No premium tiers, no paywalls, no hidden fees. There's no catchโwe're built by freelancers who were frustrated by the lack of real market data. We have no VC funding, no corporate sponsors, and no commercial agenda. This is a community tool, for the community, forever free.
Your individual responses are never published or sharedโonly aggregated, anonymized data. You can submit anonymously or sign in with Google or GitHub. We collect limited anti-abuse data (such as IP address and browser signals) to prevent spam and duplicate submissions; we never sell or share it. Read our full Privacy Policy.
Signed-in contributors can submit once per week. Anonymous contributors can submit once every two weeks. These limits help prevent any single person from skewing the results and help us capture changes over time rather than daily mood swings.
TechBaro is for IT freelancers, contractors, and independent tech professionals including: frontend/backend developers, DevOps engineers, data scientists, product managers, designers, and anyone working independently in tech. If you're navigating the freelance market and want real insights from your peers, you're in the right place.
We use layered fraud prevention: account checks for signed-in reports, stricter limits for anonymous reports, 24-hour minimum account age, IP and browser-signal checks, submission pattern analysis, and dynamic trust scoring. These controls reduce abuse; they do not make the data infallible.
Job boards show what companies are posting, but that doesn't reflect reality. Companies can post hundreds of fake listings, leave positions open forever, or ghost candidates. TechBaro shows the lived experience of actual freelancers: Are you busy? Are offers increasing? Is your outlook optimistic? This is real-world market sentiment, not marketing propaganda from recruitment platforms.
Yes! Once we have sufficient data for a region or role (minimum sample size to protect privacy), we'll show breakdowns. For example: "Frontend developers in Europe" or "DevOps engineers in North America." This feature is coming soon as our community grows. The more people who contribute, the more granular insights we can provide.
Clear rules for what we publish, what we withhold, and why.
Weighted blend of utilization, offers, and outlook. Recent submissions and verified accounts count more.
We withhold low-sample indexes, trends, maps, and segments rather than filling the gap with illustrative figures.
Community-reported only. No job board scraping and no synthetic data presented as market evidence.
